Shaitaan is a remake of the Gujarati film Vash. It’s a supernatural horror film with top-notch acting and a trembling storyline.

The film opens with a connection to the last scenes. Don’t miss the start, solely because of the credit intro music and its picturization. It’s sharp and brilliant.
The first half was a bit slow. The story does not come out impactfully. There were a few scenes which could have been edited or not filmed at all. For instance, there was a scene where the family goes out to a restaurant and Ajay Devgn body shames Jyotika, which was not necessary.
The story seemed a bit too stretchy and inclines towards not being memorable. While the story focuses on superstitious and unrealistic power possession, it story also showcases how parents can go to any extent to save their children.

A standing ovation to the actors. Janki Bodiwala’s acting execution will give you goosebumps. She was a part of the original Gujarati film too. Jyotika came back to Hindi cinema after a hiatus of 25 years. She was phenomenal in showcasing the emotions of a mother who feels helpless seeing her daughter in control of a stranger, a Shaitaan. There was one man who seamlessly swallowed everyone, and that's R. Madhavan. He was flawless in acting, effortless in delivering dialogues, and too handsome for a Shaitaan. Can't believe he is the same chocolate boy from Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. His presence in every frame was a delight to watch.

The climax scene was nicely thought off but again, was not that impactful. The movie is a warning for everyone who trusts strangers blindly. You never know you might be dealing with a wolf in disguise.
In short, the movie is not so great, nor too boring. It is an average film. You can wait for its OTT release, but it's a movie worth experiencing in cinema theatres.
