Miss India missed her Crown

Miss India is a multilingual film directed by Narendra Nath and featuring a National Award Actress Keerthy Suresh. The film was released in three different languages, namely, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

The film opens with the last scene of the film where the protagonist walks the aisle of success and narrates her struggle to achieve what she now proudly owns her own Company, “Miss India”

Very clichéd. Tried and tested. Done and dusted.

After successfully delivering a brilliant performance in her most talked-about film, Mahanati, the audience has started expecting a lot more from Keerthy Suresh. But she very clearly bought all the expectations down and failed to add her spark in the film.

The film is a little stretched. Very predictable. And a little too much of unnecessary scenes that could have been easily deleted during the editing. The screenplay, the set, and the acting looks very fake and diluted. I felt the director was unable to get the best from his actors. Be it for Keerthy Suresh or Nadhiya or Jagapathi Babu. They all were definitely below their good.

The concept again is not very unique. It’s the same old business rivalry story with no twist, no drama, no direction, no cinematography, and very less of acting. A young woman who was determined to start a business and the world goes against her. She still manages to fight all odds and start her very own company. Surprisingly, everything so beautifully fell on her feet. Not to forget that she was in a completely alien country, with no friends and relatives to back her up. California citizens are generously amazing.

The film does bring the ‘Women Empowerment’ angle, but again, that’s not used rightly. For example, in one of the scenes, the protagonist is asked in an interview by the interviewer (also her friend) as to why should I hire you and reject all the other men who have also applied for the same position? A very obvious question in any interview scenario.

But the answer led to something unusual. She stated how a woman takes all the pain to give birth to her child, how a mother’s warmth is most precious, talking about the care of a wife. Wait!!! What??? Why all these in an interview? Screwed up dialogues way too badly.

If you see the film you’ll find a lot more unconnected dialogues and unnecessary scenes in the film. What made my mind blow is where Samyukta(Keerthy Suresh) and her two friends were sitting in a café where the protagonist explains SWOT analysis to her friends who were in their final year to complete MBA. Isn’t SWOT analysis a very first and basic chapter to know for an MBA student?

Well, there are a lot of glitches in this film. Personally, I was very disappointed with Miss India.

To sum it up, the film was not required at all. There were a lot of scenes that were stretched unnecessary, scenes that should have been edited, and scenes that required elaboration. It is a below-average film with a national award actress. Like it is said, only a good director brings out the best in any actor. Unfortunately, Narendra Nath failed to do so.

Nevertheless, I wish all the good luck to Keerthy Suresh and Narendra Nath for all their upcoming projects.
